〘 noun 〙 The celestial body on which humanity lives. One of the planets belonging to the Solar System, an oblate spheroid with a distinctive magnetic field. It rotates once in approximately twenty-four hours and orbits the Sun in approximately 365 days. It has one satellite, known as the Moon. Its equatorial radius is approximately 6,378 kilometres; its polar radius approximately 6,357 kilometres. It consists of three parts—the crust, mantle and core—and has a mass of approximately 5.98×10^27 grams. Its mean distance from the Sun is approximately 149.6 million kilometres. The abundance of surface water, the high concentration of oxygen in its atmosphere and the presence of life on its surface are among the features that distinguish it from other planets.
