The World’s Biggest Picture at EXPO2025

Event introduction image

On 1 October 2025, The World’s Biggest Picture at EXPO2025 will be held at the EXPO Arena ‘Matsuri’ at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.

This international project brings together pictures drawn by children around the world on the theme of life, creating a single picture on a global scale. At the Expo venue, many organisations will gather around the children’s pictures, led by the Earth Identity Project.

As part of the project, we will produce and deliver two special programmes carrying wishes for peace, prayers for the future and messages for the world. They will be the first stage for General Incorporated Association EARTH, established on Tanabata.

❶ Water of Life

Focusing on water, the source of life, this session explores the meaning of ‘education for life’ in resonance with the film Pale Blue Dot: If You Smile, and aquaphotomics.

❷ Earth Day Declaration @ EXPO2025

A ceremony with people who have put Earth Day into practice, sharing a pledge as people living on this planet.

Before we knew it, we had also taken on overall responsibility for running the event. The scale of this major occasion still leaves us feeling breathless, but we are grateful for the rare opportunity to build a bridge towards the next age.

The Expo’s largest arena will be filled with pictures by children from Japan and around the world, carrying their messages about life and the Earth.

It is a one-day event, but if you are visiting the Expo site on 1 October, please come and see us.

We are deeply grateful to the children of Arita, Karuizawa and Uda, who drew pictures despite our last-minute request; to everyone who moved quickly to help; and to studio gifthands and nekonote for supporting Water of Life. We would like to take this opportunity to offer our heartfelt thanks.
